Solo National Championship Aug 5-9
There are just 6 weeks until the National Championship begins in Torbay and with 57 pre-entries already, it looks like we willl have a busy start line in the bay. Among the hotshots, Charlie Cumbley, Oliver Davenport and Tim Law so if you are hard enough come and take a shot of wrestling the title away from any one of these sailors. Alternatively, if you just want to enjoy the feel of racing with a big fleet of mixed ability then this is a great venue and the fleet is friendl

Noble Marine Nation's Cup Day 4
Noble Marine Nation’s Cup Day 4 Day 4 dawned overcast, the strong winds finally abating but the region still refusing to default to the blistering heat we had read about in the brochure. The competitors had an early start but that had not put some off a very late night of food, wine and entertainment though Vincent Horey’s rendition of “We are Spurs” on his base guitar soon had the audience running for the exit. Earlier that evening the fleet had enjoyed a soiree at the saili

LEIGH-ON-SEA SAILING CLUB SOLO CLASS OPEN MEETING, SUNDAY, 31st May 2026
This year’s Solo Open Meeting, the tenth which the LSC have run, followed on from the previous day’s Vintage Championships saw a small but relative competitive fleet of much newer boats combined with the remnants of yesterday’s older boats. Slightly down on numbers from previous years due imminent clashes with the Nation’s Cup in France and other factors. Seven visiting solos made up of the eleven entries were welcomed by the club in its usual way. An earlier start time than

Noble Marine Nation's Cup Day 2
Noble Marine Nation’s Cup Day 2 The day had opened as Windguru had predicted, the winds that had battered this part of France abating, leaving a light breeze in its wake. The sky was more befitting any one of a dozen industrialised cities in the UK in the height of summer, overcast with just a sprinkle of sunbeams to keep the hope in the hearts of those who are blessed with skin that will not burn easily. I applied two layers of the finest olive oil to my blotted torso and sl

Solo Vintage Championship Promo
You could be forgiven for thinking you have walked through a worm hole back in time if you happen to pass by Leigh on Sea on Saturday May 30, narrow cobbled streets overflowing with pedestrians eager to sample the local ales and cockle bars, a train station, bereft of travellers awaiting departure and a beach full of cutting edge timber constructed Solos. Only when Technora sails are hoisted by sailors modelling the latest hikers are we transported back into the modern era. T

P&B Solo Dittisham Open – Sunshine, Incredible Breeze, bring it on and we did!!
Well, it was forecast to be windy with typical Dittisham sunshine, and both came in heaps! James Dodd assembled the sailors for the briefing, which he delivered with his fingers crossed behind his back that the wind wouldn’t increase above 24knots. It certainly worked however several sailors decided to go. Race 1 got underway with a tightly contested first beat. Steve Roberts was looking good however got hit by an enormous gust and manged to capsize on top of Giles Bradford.
