By: John Ewbank 20th September 2026 3 visitors and 10 local sailors came together for the annual TCYC Solo P&B Western Series Open Meeting at Coombe Cellars on the Teign estuary. Although sunny and warm the wind forecast for Sunday 20th September was not encouraging ranging from 5 to 6 knots throughout the morning and into early afternoon dropping off thereafter. Well, it was forecast to be windy with typical Dittisham sunshine, and both came in heaps! James Dodd assembled the sailors for the briefing, which he delivered with his fingers crossed behind his back that the wind wouldn’t increase above 24knots. It certainly worked however several sailors decided to go. Race 1 got underway with a tightly contested first beat. Sadly the weather forecast has taken it’s first casualty with wind forecast in high 20s gusting 30+ kts. As a result we are forced to cancel the Torpoint Mosquito Open on Saturday 11th April 2026, part of the P&B Western Series.
