Nearly the end of our Western Series with the last event at Salcombe YC on 21/22 October 2023, a lively event on the Saturday last year. To enter please click here.
We have had two Open events in recent weeks.
TCYC held their Open on Saturday 23 September. A delayed start due to somewhere between becalmed and light wind conditions until the breeze sorted itself out. A full report is published in Yachts & Yachting click here for the article. Charlie Nunn of Torpoint Mosquito took the event honours adding another to his grow list of firsts. Nick Fisher did try to make the event, but his determination waned when he did not ignore the Road Closed signs as the rest of us did and went home, maybe a quick round of Golf.
South Cerney SC then held a joint Western and Midland Series Open event on Saturday 30 September. Well attended with a good turnout with Martin Honnor taking the spoils. A full article is available on the NSCA website, published by Kev Hall, who beat me to it. So not to duplicate please click here to get to the article. Note we split the Western Series helms out of the South Cerney results for the series result in fairness to those who had travelled a long way to compete.
The Western Series results going into the final round are posted below:
Charlie Nunn looks to be well out in the lead, however if Oli Turner goes well at his home event, Salcombe, that might change, but he needs to win it and even then, on count back, not much pressure then! Just keep out of their way on the start line, Charlie has been swatting up on his Ben Ainsley moves and sail Oli toward France. It’s set up nicely.
There are nine helms that have completed the requisite 4 events to qualify and a further five that could if they turn up to Salcombe. The pressure is on John Steels and Chris Meredith to try and hold onto their 2nd and 3rd places.
Look forward to seeing you at Salcombe.
