I have been tying the inhaul line with a reef knot - which works fine, but is quite hard to untie afterwards. Does anyone have a better recommendation- I use a simple 20 cm length of 4mm line, loop it through the sail, round the mast and tie the ends together....

Aha. Thanks. It's very windy for me, I get in the Severn. And out again, and in again...
a small stopper bobble up against an overhand knot on one end. a large loop on the other end. pass most of the large loop through the tack eye, round the mast and then over the bobble
