National Solo Class Press Release

The Committee of the National Solo Class Association are proud to announce that Magic Marine are to be a Class sponsor of the National Solo fleet in 2018.
George Kingsnorth, Magic Marine’s UK representative commented;

“The owner of Magic Marine, Max Blom, is a former Solo sailor and has happy memories of the class. There is also recognition of the strength in this iconic fleet; participation numbers at the clubs are high as they are at key events and there are Solos sailed at most clubs around the country. Magic Marine are excited to be part of the Solo Class and look forward to supporting the activities of the NSCA”
The association exists for all it’s members and has a duty to look after the interests of members who are regular club sailors
as well as those attending the larger events.
This is a sentiment shared by Magic Marine, who’s kit, whilst popular amongst Olympians, is primarily developed to improve
the experience of regular sailors and allow them to get more out of their sport.
To reflect this shared value Magic Marine were keen to be involved with the Solo ‘Class Roots’ initiative.

Will Loy, President of the NSCA explains;

“One of the Committee’s more difficult tasks has always been connecting with the club sailor who may never want to venture
to an NSCA organised event, whether local open meeting or National Championship. These initiatives, supported generously
by Magic Marine, along with the benefits that already exist for all NSCA members, free coaching, the Solo Specific magazine,
UK wide open meetings and major events, discounted insurance from our Class insurer Noble Marine, and finally the knowledge that a thriving Class Association stimulates growth and protects boat resale value.”

Magic Marine Club Member of the Month
With this at the forefront of both the NSCA and Magic Marine and working closely with our Fleet Captains and Area Representatives,
we will be rewarding one lucky NSCA club member per month, nominated by their club for a noteworthy deed or outstanding performance.
Maybe it will be one of our more senior members who has gone Solo sailing in brutally cold conditions, likewise, a junior member who’s enthusiasm for the Solo inspires other younger sailors to sail the Solo.
The lucky winner will have his/her story published on our website and on our area Facebook pages and will receive a Magic Marine £50 gift voucher.

Committee member Chris Brown has co-ordinated with our Facebook users across the UK and the result is a network of Area FB pages and while some NSCA members may frown on the ethics of modern social media it does connect people and provide a platform for instant communication.
Fortunately for those diehards there is an FB window on the NSCA website so you can view what is going on without actually having to ask your
teenage son/daughter to assist you!
Further details of how to enter will be published on the National Solo website at www.solosailing.org.uk
