PY number for B Plan Sail

One of our senior Solo sailors has had an old Sail converted to a B plan sail.

We only have handicap racing, anybody have any idea of PY number for a B plan sail?

Solo B Plan Rig PN based on various Laser rigs & PN’s has been "calculated" at 1200

Guy Mayger has a copy of my report on how PN of 1200 was arrived at.

When I was posting my message, I did think that there probably was very little (if any) data available.

Will report back later in year, if we are able to work anything out.

I've been through similar issues with Picos and the various rigs they carry and, for club level racing, it's really come down to a gentlemens/persons agreement and keeping all parties happy.

Not always easy, but I hope you're able to sort something :-)

Hi Mike,

As far as I am aware there is no published handicap for the B plan sail, I'm afraid.

Basically, there is very little (read, probably zero) data to work from.

My own inclination would be to discuss the relative performance of the B plan rig over a number of weeks with you clubs sailing committee(?) and agree on a suitable number.

Hopefully, a number that is a good representation can be agreed upon and your B plan sailor can continue racing.

Please do let us know if you have any progress with this... of course, if others know more than I do about B plans, please speak up :-)
