These terms govern a users access to the National Solo Class Association ("Association") website. In order to use certain facilities of the site a user is required to register. During the registration process users are required to agree to these terms. If a user does not agree to be bound by these terms their sole recourse is to not register.
Registration on the site is free of charge.
Currently, there is no obligation to be a current member of the Class Association. However the Association reserves the right to make Class Association membership a pre-requisite to registration.
Registration requires a user to provide a valid e-mail address, a first name and a surname. The e-mail address is required in order to send communications from the site and is validated during the registration process.
Optional personal information, such as telephone numbers and a physical location may be entered by the user and stored in the user profile database. This information is used solely to help pre-fill the form used to place adverts.
Once set during registration, a users registered name and e-mail address cannot be changed through the website. Requests to change this base data may be sent to webmaster@solosailing.org.uk.
Optional personal information may be updated or deleted at any time through the website.
Passwords may also be changed at any time, and users are encouraged to change their passwords on a regular basis.
Users may remove their registration details at any time through the website. Any current adverts placed by the user will be removed. Any message board postings will retain the name and e-mail address of the user.
The Association reserves the right to suspend or remove a users registration if they break these terms, or for any or no reason whatsoever.
Ordinarily, the Association will not pass on a users personal information to any third party. However, the Association reserves the right to reveal a users identity in order to comply with any legal obligations of the Association or to defend any valid legal process served on the Association.
Registered users may place new, or respond to existing messages using the site's message board facility.
The Association does not review messages before they are posted, and so disclaims any and all responsibility or liability for the accuracy, content, completeness, legality, reliability, operability or availability of the message content.
Opinions expressed in messages are those of the message author and not of the Association.
The following content is not permitted to appear in any messages posted to the message boards:
The Association reserves the right to delete or edit any message for any reason whatsoever. The author will be notified of the changes, and will be given the option of accepting the changes or removing the message entirely. The user posting the message remains solely responsible for the content and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Association and it agents and officers with respect to any claim based upon transmission of the message or its contents.
Adverts may only be placed by registered users, and must be for Solo related items. Additionally, advertisers must be either;
Adverts not placed in accordance with the above will be removed.
Adverts may be placed free of charge.
Adverts remain on the site for a fixed period, during which users may make any number of amendments. Towards the end of the period, the advertiser is notified of the adverts expiry. The advertiser may choose to keep the advert on the site for a further period. There is no limit to the number of times an advert may be renewed.
The Association reserves the right to delete or edit an advert, or to change the period for which it remains on the site or the number of times it can be renewed. For existing adverts, the advertiser will be notified of the changes, and will be given the option of accepting the changes or removing the advert entirely.
With the exception of certain restricted message boards, all parts of the site are accessible to all visitors.
The Association reserves the right to restrict access to all or part of the site to registered users and/or current members of the Class Association.
Upon registration, a user is automatically subscribed to periodic email messages from the Association. If preferred, a user may opt out of receiving these messages by amending their profile on the site.
Similarly, users may subscribe to additional email communications, such as copies of new adverts and message board postings.
The Association may periodically add or remove mailing lists.
Cookies are small pieces of information, sent down to the browser from a web site, and are commonly used to "remember" options taken and data entered when accessing a web site. A cookie may be stored on the hard disk of a computer by the browser (persistent cookie), so that it can be recalled and used again the next time the web site is visited. Alternatively, the cookie may be destroyed once the browser is closed (session cookie).
This web site does not employ persistent cookies. Therefore, no data is stored on a users computer as a result of browsing the site.
Session cookies are used (if the browser settings permit their use) to aid site navigation. The site will function if the browser settings do not permit session cookies, but navigation around the site may work in a less efficient manner.
The terms currently in force will be made available on the site.
Any changes to the terms that affect the way in which a user's personal information is used will be conveyed by email to users who have opted to receive communications from the Association. Existing users will have a choice as to whether or not their information is used in this different manner. Users who have opted out of receiving email communications from the Association will not receive notification, nor will their information be used in the new manner.
